VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

To fully understand the meaning and context of Visual Arts for the advancement of human knowledge and finding ways and means through which the life of people could be enriched. To improve the vision of students, faculty and the public at large through the artistic activities such as group/solo art exhibitions, educational tours, art workshops, seminars etc. The main aims of the Deptt. is to provide the artistic and cultural atmosphere to students during the academic courses which could generate good artistic qualities.

The candidates having passed Fine Arts (Painting/ Applied Arts) as one of the subjects in their qualifying examination will be allowed weightage of 5 marks.

	The Visual Arts Department engages the dynamic contemporary practices in the field of drawing, painting, graphics, art history and art theory. It is deeply rooted into the study and research of visual material cultures from India, wider Asia and Europe, integrating the theoretical and methodological questions related to art-history and culture with the critical analysis of contemporary art and its complexities.
